North Texas Performing Arts is proud to announce the promotion of Senior Resident Director Denver Danyla to the role of Creative Director.

 Denver joined the NTPA creative staff in 2017, and has served several roles at NTPA including directing some of NTPA’s most popular productions such as Les Miserables: School Edition, Puffs, She Kills Monsters, Avenue Q: School Edition, and Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street: School Edition. In addition to his direction, Denver is well-known for designing and producing shows with intricate and beautiful lighting and sound design.

Denver annually directs NTPA’s Junior Theatre Festival troupe to critical acclaim, winning the highest honors possible for three consecutive years. This year’s troupe received perfect scores from festival judges for the first time in NTPA history, and NTPA was selected to showcase a brand new Music Theatre International show at the event. The event is the largest youth theatre festival in the country with over 6,000 students in attendance each year. 

Denver received his BFA in Acting for Stage and Screen from Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles. He found his passion for acting while in Jr. High and High School. Before joining NTPA, Denver worked as a counselor at youth camps including Kanakuk and Forest Home and worked as a youth theatre director in the Houston area where he honed his skills and his love for teaching, directing and mentoring. 

Denver will be the featured guest on this month’s episode of “The ACE Up Your Sleeve” where he shares his experience and life lessons from working in the performing arts.

In his role as Creative Director, Denver will direct and lead some of NTPA’s most exciting shows for the coming year.
