This North Texas Christmas Tradition features a fast-paced and fun full-length live musical production, Pre-show Christmas Carols, and MORE!

North Texas Performing Arts Community Theatre proudly announces its Christmas Tradition “Scrooge, The Musical,” a show by award-winning songwriter, Leslie Bricusse, creator of the musical versions of “Jekyll & Hyde” and “Willy Wonka”. Receiving four Academy Award nominations and five Golden Globe nominations in its movie version, “Scrooge” closely follows the plot of Charles Dickens’ acclaimed book, A Christmas Carol.

This wonderful Plano Christmas Tradition now in its 14th BIG YEAR and producing its 113th performance this year has been critically acclaimed and plays to sell-out crowds. The Dallas Morning News called the production “brilliant … robust and passionate” and it regularly tops Plano Profile’s “Must See” event for the Christmas Season.

In his 10th year of involvement in this production, Mike Mazur returns as Director guaranteeing a fun-filled, joyous and positive family, and high-quality entertainment experience with some exciting new twists and changes to keep this message and twelve-year tradition fresh and alive!

SUBMITTING YOUR AUDITION:

NOTE:  PAST SCROOGERS DO NOT NEED TO SUBMIT A VIDEO AUDITION, but do need to complete the Audition Form to be considered for a role!

This audition is by video and you will be asked to upload your video when completing the application.

THE READING:  Typically participants will submit an approximately thirty-second reading that highlights their voice and dramatic strengths. It can be a selection from any number of selections.  Possible reading selections for adults can be seen at ADULT AUDITION SELECTIONS. It is not expected that these readings are memorized.

THE SONG:  To evaluate the actor’s range and find the best role fit, the song submittal should be approximately thirty seconds or more that highlights voice range and strength. The selection itself doesn’t really matter that much, and familiar favorites are often submitted. Some possibilities can be found here: ADULT SONG SELECTIONS.

For more tips on the video audition, you can go to VIDEO TIPS.  For youth audition guidance, go to the links below.

At the end of the day, our community theatre is about bringing people together to have fun in creating a great show! We do need people that can sing, dance, and act — and there are roles for those that can do some, all or NONE of those things in SCROOGE – THE MUSICAL!

PERFORMANCES:

There will be a total of TWELVE performances with this production including two “Gift to the Community” Pre-Opening performances.  Most roles will be double or triple-cast, and possibly four actors portraying Tiny Tim may be cast.

REHEARSALS:

There will be a FLEXIBLE REHEARSAL SCHEDULE so those unable to make all the Thursday evening rehearsal commitments might still be able to participate.

FOR ANY QUESTIONS OR INQUIRIES, email SCROOGE@NTPA.ORG.
