Synopsis

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a gripping play adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novella, exploring the duality of human nature. The story centers on Dr. Henry Jekyll, a well-respected scientist in Victorian London, who becomes obsessed with the idea of separating the good and evil aspects of his personality. Through a series of experiments, Jekyll creates a potion that transforms him into Mr. Edward Hyde, a malevolent and ruthless alter ego.

As Mr. Hyde, Jekyll indulges in dark desires and commits heinous acts without remorse. However, the transformation soon spirals out of control, and Hyde begins to emerge without the need for the potion. Jekyll’s attempts to suppress his darker side become increasingly desperate, leading to a tragic conclusion.
The play explores themes of identity, morality, and the consequences of unchecked ambition, highlighting the struggle between the civilized self and the primal instincts lurking within. As Jekyll battles his inner demons, the story raises profound questions about the nature of humanity and the potential for evil that resides in us all.
