Congratulations to the NTPA Junior Theatre Festival Troupe!
The JTF troupe traveled to Houston last week to learn and compete at Junior Theatre Festival West. The troupe was awarded the coveted Outstanding Production Award for their performance of a 15-minute selection from Seussical the Musical JR. This prestigious award was given to only 4 troupes who competed in the national event.
Congratulations to NTPA students Amanda Reid and Garrett Stone for receiving an All Star Award!
Amanda Reid was also chosen to perform songs from brand new show titles at the awards ceremony. Amanda performed 13, JR and Mean Girls, JR, which she performed alongside Broadway Actress Krystina Alabado (Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls Broadway)!
The JTF troupe was made up of NTPA students in grades 4-12 who were selected through a competitive audition process. The troupe was managed by Cibby Bowden and directed by Christian Black and Denver Danyla.
Junior Theatre Festival brings together student musical theater troupes from all over the world for a weekend of musical theater mayhem and madness. The weekend is full of theatre troupe performances, workshops, showcases, awards and FUN with like-minded people from all across the globe!
JTF is the LARGEST student theatre festival in the country with approximately 3,000 students in attendance! Only a limited number of theatre companies are invited and this was NTPA’s second year to be invited to attend. In February 2020, NTPA’s first JTF troupe was awarded Excellence in Ensemble!
In addition to competing, students participated in workshops taught by Broadway professionals, viewed previews of new Broadway Junior titles soon to be released, and engaged in conversations and performances with current Broadway performers.
