Introducing our New
North Texas Performing Arts – Frisco Program Director
Christian Black
Welcome Reception – Saturday, April 10, 6:00 PM
Willow Bend Center of the Arts
We could not be more pleased to announce Christian Black’s return home to NTPA – Frisco as its Program Director.
Christian is moving to Frisco after leading NTPA’s Dallas Theatre for over two years, guiding it through the opening of its first permanent location.
Christian Robert Black began as a student with the Plano Children’s Theatre almost twenty years ago, growing up in Frisco. He went on to become an accomplished actor and director based in the DFW area. A theatrical veteran of 17 years, he earned his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Drama: Acting Emphasis from the Peggy Dow Helmerich School of Drama at the University of Oklahoma in 2016. His education and experience led to a year-long artistic fellowship at the Tony Award-winning Dallas Theater Center.
He returned home to NTPA in 2017, to help guide youth of all ages to the same magic he experienced when he was a student. His favorite NTPA directorial credits include: Les Miserables, Newsies, The Addams Family, Into The Woods, Matilda: The Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Romeo & Juliet, The Little Mermaid, and A Midsummer Nights Dream. In 2018, he was honored with the NTPA Resident Director of the Year Award, and in 2019, he was promoted to Dallas Program Director and Senior Resident Director.
Effective April 1, 2021, Christian will become the Program Director for the NTPA – Frisco Theatre troupe, guiding and directing NTPA’s operations across one of the fastest growing theatres in the NTPA family.
Christian’s focus will be on creating a new community energy, reaching out to add to our already incredible talent, and beginning the work to create a new theatre home for our Frisco youth programs.
We will be celebrating his new appointment at a Welcome Reception on Saturday, April 10 at 6:00 PM as part of the NTPA 30th Anniversary Celebration Series between Frisco’s performances of Mary Poppins.
